How to use this tool
- Choose one local Audio file with a supported primary mono or stereo audio track.
- Choose Output sample rate: 8,000, 16,000, 22,050, 44,100, 48,000 or 96,000 Hz. The default is 48,000 Hz.
- Select Convert sample rate and download audio-<rate>hz.wav. Review the reported frame count, channels, duration and clipped-sample count.
Examples
A one-second, 48 kHz mono recording converted to 16 kHz produces 16,000 PCM frames, with the same pitch and a low-pass filter for frequencies above the new Nyquist limit.
Limitations
- One nonempty local file up to 64 MiB and 120 seconds; 1–2 channels; source rates 8–96 kHz. Source and output together may contain at most 16 million samples; resampling is limited to 200 million kernel sample products. Large rate changes or high rates can require shorter clips.
- Output is 16-bit PCM WAV, at most 32 MiB; worker task limit 60 seconds. Codec support varies by browser. The primary audio track is selected; network playlists are unsupported.
- Descriptive tags and artwork are not copied. PCM quantization can round samples; same-rate conversion is not a bit-identical file copy. Upsampling does not recover missing high frequencies, and this tool does not normalize loudness.
