How to use this tool

  • Choose one ZIP file and select Inspect contents, Extract files or Recover intact ZIP entries.
  • For extraction, optionally enter exact file paths from the contents report, one per line. Clear selected paths before recovery.
  • Recovery downloads a new ZIP and a separate JSON report. Review every omission and the stopping point; recovery cannot establish completeness or reconstruct missing bytes.
  • For split ZIP, select every matching .z01, .z02, … and final .zip part, choose Inspect split ZIP or Extract split ZIP, and clear selected paths. Parts are ordered by filename number; extraction returns all contents in one verified ZIP.

Limitations

  • 20 MiB input, 1,000 examined entries, 16 MiB per entry and 64 MiB total examined output, including data later rejected by CRC. Strict extraction allows at most 100 downloads. Processing has a 30-second deadline and can be cancelled.
  • ZIP supports stored/Deflate content and ASCII or UTF-8 names. Strict inspection/extraction rejects encryption, ZIP64, symlinks, unsafe paths and damaged structure.
  • Recovery walks local headers from byte zero and never scans compressed content for apparent entries. It stops at unknown boundaries, truncation, streaming data descriptors or ZIP64. Self-extracting prefixes are unsupported. Encrypted or corrupt entries are omitted only when their declared boundaries remain known.
  • Only size/CRC-verified, unambiguous paths are retained. All duplicate/case-colliding or file/directory-conflicting recovered paths are omitted. CRC detects accidental corruption, not tampering. Read the report: recovered entries are not a guarantee of complete recovery.
  • Recovery preserves retained paths and bytes but omits original metadata, timestamps, permissions and comments. Every output entry is an ordinary file or empty directory; symlink semantics are never recreated. No passwords are guessed and no archive content is executed.
  • Split mode: 2–32 nonempty PKZIP parts totaling 20 MiB, 1,000 entries, 16 MiB each and 64 MiB actual expansion. Missing/duplicate parts, wrong disk offsets, CRC errors, unsafe or Unicode/case-colliding names reject the complete operation. Raw .zip.001 chunks, encryption, ZIP64 and digital signatures are unsupported. Source filenames/bytes are preserved; original archive metadata is omitted. CRC is not authentication.
