How to use this tool
- Paste Input text and review the selected removal groups.
- Keep ZWJ/ZWNJ, word joiners, soft hyphens and bidirectional controls unless you intend to change their language, emoji or layout effects.
- Select Inspect and clean, then download cleaned-text.txt and invisible-character-report.json.
- Use the report's zero-based Unicode code-point offsets to locate the first recorded occurrences in the actual input.
Examples
A U+200B zero-width space between Hello and world is removed by default; the U+200D joiner in 👩💻 remains.
Limitations
- Input: 1,048,576 UTF-16 code units with valid Unicode; combined output: 8 MiB. Reports list counts and only the first 20 code-point offsets per detected character.
- Coverage is limited to U+200B, U+FEFF, U+200C/D, U+2060, U+00AD, U+061C, U+200E/F, U+202A–U+202E and U+2066–U+2069. It is not a detector for every invisible Unicode character.
- Removing joiners, soft hyphens or direction controls can change legitimate text and emoji. Those groups are not removed by default.
- Browser textarea input normalizes pasted line endings to LF. Beyond selected removals, this performs no whitespace or Unicode normalization and does not certify text as safe or free of hidden information.
