How to use this tool

  • Choose Conversion direction, Word width, Signed two’s complement and Fractional bits.
  • Enter Decimal or exact-width hex word and select Convert fixed point.
  • Download fixed-point.json for the complete hex/binary word, integers, represented fraction and represented-minus-input error.

Examples

Signed8-bit width with4 fractional bits converts−1.5 to E8,stored integer−24,represented−3/2 and zero error.

Limitations

  • Widths 8/16/32/64; fractional bits 0–width for unsigned or 0–width−1 for signed. Decimal input allows outer whitespace, 100 coefficient digits, 128 raw units and exponent −1000 to 1000.
  • Hex input requires exactly width/4 digits after optional 0x. Rounded integer range is checked after quantization; no saturation or wrapping.
  • 4,096-digit arithmetic, 64 KiB report and a 30-second processing limit. Hex mode has null quantization error and rounding. Width and fractional bits define the format explicitly.
