How to use this tool
- Paste CSV input or choose a CSV file; a selected file takes precedence. Choose Input and output delimiter.
- Set Identifier columns (one-based positions), or leave it blank for no identifiers. Set a disjoint nonempty Measure columns selection in the desired output order.
- Choose unique nonempty Measure-name output header and Value output header values. Review Protect spreadsheet formulas, then select Unpivot CSV and download unpivoted.csv.
Examples
id,Q1,Q2 with 01,10,20 becomes id,variable,value with records 01,Q1,10 and 01,Q2,20.
Limitations
- Up to 5 MiB UTF-8 CSV, 50,000 input and expanded data rows, 500 output columns, 500,000 output cells including the header, and 20 MiB output; 30-second worker limit.
- Input must have unique nonempty headers and rectangular rows. Identifier/measure selections cannot repeat or overlap; output headers must remain distinct after formula protection.
- Only selected identifier and measure columns appear. No aggregation, sorting, trimming, type inference or coercion. Empty measure values are retained.
- Spreadsheet protection is on by default and can prepend an apostrophe to formula-like identifier values, measure names, values or headers. The explicit opt-out retains parsed strings with spreadsheet execution risk. Complete numeric text keeps its signed spelling.
- Paste normalizes line endings to LF; UTF-8 file input preserves quoted embedded line endings. The selected delimiter is also used in the downloaded .csv file.
