How to use this tool
- Enter an Exact rational or finite decimal input, such as -7/3 or 1.25.
- Select Convert to continued fraction.
- Download continued-fraction.json to inspect all coefficients and convergents.
Examples
-7/3 gives coefficients [-3,1,2] and convergents -3/1, -2/1, -7/3.
Limitations
- 100 total input digits including leading zeros, 512 UTF-16 input units, 500 coefficients, 1,024 intermediate digits, 256 KiB report and 30 seconds.
- After outer ASCII space/tab trimming, inputs have no internal whitespace, exponent, locale comma, trailing decimal point or ellipsis.
- Forward conversion only; coefficient-list reconstruction and irrational approximation are deferred.
