7Z Viewer and Extractor

Inspect and extract supported 7Z archives locally, including encryption with a password you supply.

7Z

JSON / files

Browser only

Runs locally in your browser. Your files, pasted content and generated output are not uploaded. Reset clears this tool’s working data.

This tool needs JavaScript. If it does not load, refresh the page and try again.

How to use this tool

  • Choose one supported archive within its input limit.
  • For encrypted 7Z/RAR, enable the known-password option and enter the password; one password must unlock every entry.
  • Choose inspection, extraction or ZIP conversion. Inspection and selected extraction still verify the entire archive.
  • Download only after all checks pass. Files and ZIP output are unencrypted. Cancel stops the worker; Reset clears local input and results.

Examples

Open a header-encrypted solid archive with its known password, verify its complete contents, then extract selected files or convert all supported entries to an unencrypted ZIP.

Limitations

  • 20 MiB archive input. All archives: 1,000 entries, 16 MiB per entry, 64 MiB combined decoded file content, 256 MiB native heap and 120-second worker deadline. Individual extraction allows 100 downloads. Browser input/output copies are separate from the native heap.
  • One supplied password of at most 127 UTF-16 code units, without NUL; supplementary characters count as two. An explicitly supplied empty password is allowed. No guessing, cracking or recovery. Mixed-password archives fail without partial output.
  • Supports common 7Z LZMA/LZMA2, PPMd, stored, Deflate and BZip2 data, including supported data/header encryption and solid layouts. Unsupported codecs or larger memory/work requirements fail explicitly.
  • Split volumes, self-extracting executables, links, alternate streams, special files, unsafe/non-normalized paths, duplicate names and Unicode/case collisions are rejected. Nested archives are not expanded. No file is executed.
  • All entries must completely decode and pass available archive integrity checks before a result. This does not establish origin or imply every archive entry contains a checksum. Downloads and ZIP output are unencrypted and omit timestamps, permissions and archive metadata. Individual downloads flatten folders with numbered prefixes.
  • The verified engine and its complete corresponding source/relink materials are versioned local assets. Selected file bytes and supplied passwords stay in the browser. JavaScript password strings are not claimed to be securely erasable.
